German authorities have released one of four men arrested in connection with an alleged plot to kill Iraqi interim Prime Minister Iyad Allawi during his visit to Berlin last week, officials said Sunday.

The released man, a Lebanese citizen, was detained in Berlin on Saturday on suspicion of supporting a terrorist organization, said Hartmut Schneider, a spokesman for the federal prosecutor’s office. Prosecutors decided not to seek a formal arrest warrant to keep him in custody, he said.
