Her Misguided ‘Moment’

Share

I was repulsed by Susan Wilking Horan’s account of how an apparent homeless man “enriched” her life and “reshaped” her world (“The Sepulveda Man,” Essay, Nov. 21). What have we come to? She actually believes this man was placed on earth to give her life meaning. She writes that the “experience” they “shared” was a “profound moment.” I can only imagine that her new “friend” would have traded that moment for a cheese sandwich.

Thank you for Horan’s beautiful essay. It made me almost as sad as “The Yearling” did in high school, but it was good to learn that someone with a soul as lovely as Horan’s lives in our city.
