Mississippi officials met with San Francisco 49er Coach Dennis Erickson on Tuesday night in Santa Clara to discuss the school’s head coaching position.

Erickson wasn’t offered the job by Athletic Director Pete Boone or Chancellor Robert Khayat.

Terry Donahue, general manager of the 49ers, granted Erickson permission to talk to Mississippi.

Byyny, 65, and university President Elizabeth Hoffman insisted he was not leaving because of the football scandal.

Dick Tharp resigned as athletic director in November.

Nine women claimed they were sexually assaulted by football players or recruits since 1997, though no charges were filed.
