Decorations with meaning

Share

Re “Rejoice, With a Little Restraint” [Dec. 9]: Equal time, please, for ethnic diversity, where traditions of value have meaning and require more creativity than seeing how much can be purchased during a MasterCard-buying spree.

I am an immigrant’s son, and my gifts to my mom each year are the decorations I make. Everything on the tree has specific meaning as I celebrate my late grandparents and my mother’s treasured memories of Christmas in Europe. A tree with meaning, not just slapped up as an obligation, is something we should admire, have a sense of pride about and rejoice in.
