Fond recollections of a star pupil

Bravo to Leonardo DiCaprio on his impressive acting achievements by age 30 (“The High Fliers” by Rachel Abramowitz, Dec. 12).

I knew DiCaprio as my student at the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies. He was bright, respectful, small for his age, eager to impress and teased often by classmates for making commercials. The final snub came on his last school day as a 10th-grader in June 1990. Somebody snatched his yearbook and he had no way to replace it. I still regret not loaning him the $15.
