South Coast Rep plans ‘Brooklyn’

Share

South Coast Repertory hasn’t announced its 2004-05 season, but its plan is to open with the premiere of the SCR-commissioned “Brooklyn Boy.” The play is the latest from Donald Margulies, well known to SCR audiences for “Collected Stories” and the premiere of his Pulitzer Prize-winning “Dinner With Friends.”

Although Margulies grew up in Brooklyn, his play “is not a memory play but a play about a middle-aged novelist who has a breakthrough success with an autobiographical novel called ‘Brooklyn Boy,’ ” he says.
