Patricia Falkenhain, 77; Stage Actress Won 3 Obie Awards
Patricia Falkenhain, 77, a classical Broadway and off-Broadway actress who earned three Obie awards and a Drama Critics award, died Jan. 5 of a heart attack at her home in Newcastle, Maine.
Married to actor Robert Geiringer, who spelled his name professionally as Gerringer, she appeared opposite her husband in about 150 productions. Falkenhain was a regular performer with such New York repertory companies as Phoenix Theater, the Public Theater and Joseph Papp’s Shakespeare in the Park.
Falkenhain, a native of Atlanta, last appeared on Broadway in “The House of Blue Leaves” in 1986. She also starred in a television production of the play in 1987. She was in such motion pictures as “Heartburn,” starring Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson, in 1986; and “The House on Carroll Street” in 1988.
