Easy riders, outdoors fans or anyone who read “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance” and then bought a hatchback will appreciate one of the few biker mags not obsessed with maximum torque or tattoos. This bimonthly is all about celebrating the rider’s original playground -- the open road -- and all the national forests, mountain vistas and backwoods barbecue shacks that come with it.

The magazine’s newsy front section will dull the senses of anyone who doesn’t much care about the Vulcan 1600 Mean Streak’s new cylinder heads. Flip straight to the main feature well, which highlights several motorcycle explorations we’ve all dreamed about (the Rockies, the Sierra, the Dolomites) and others we haven’t but now might (southern Ohio, East Texas).

Clearly a labor of love (editor in chief Christian Neuhauser penned three of the current issue’s features; wife Christa is the business manager), this welcome addition to the biker rack goes places those sportier glossies have long since turned their titanium pipes on.
