Prosecutors to Get Rigas Documents

From Bloomberg News

A federal judge in New York gave prosecutors access to an undisclosed number of documents that lawyers for Adelphia Communications Corp. founder John Rigas and his sons said should be protected by attorney-client privilege.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Leonard Sand is a victory for prosecutors, who contend that the Rigas family mixed personal business and funds with those of Greenwood Village, Colo.-based Adelphia, the sixth-biggest U.S. cable TV company.

Rigas, two of his sons and a former Adelphia executive face a 23-count indictment accusing them of hiding $2.3 billion in debt and looting company funds. They have denied the charges. The trial is scheduled to start Feb. 23.
