Jackson profiles shown on BET

Janet Jackson’s breast unveiling may have made her at least temporarily unpopular at CBS and MTV, but she is still being embraced by the networks’ sister company, BET. The cable network, which like CBS and MTV is owned by Viacom, has been airing vignettes featuring Jackson profiling famous and not-so-famous black leaders.

The 30-second spots, which began airing the same day as the Super Bowl, were produced in conjunction with this month’s celebration of Black History Month. They all feature Jackson wearing a buttoned-up black dress.

Kelli Lawson, BET’s executive vice president of corporate marketing and communications, said the network was approached by Jackson’s representatives weeks ago about her desire to “do something meaningful for Black History Month.”
