Bush Gives Reelection Precedence Over Iraq

Share

My son-in-law was ordered to go back to Iraq this March. This will mark his second tour of duty in less than a year. On Monday, I heard that President Bush finally agreed to an independent investigation on the prewar intelligence reports on Iraq and that the report would not be completed until after the presidential election.

I have come to believe that our president and his administration knew beforehand that the intelligence reports were weak and flawed. Yet he proceeded to go to war with this flawed information. When the final report is completed, it will include cover-ups and deception by this administration.

My biggest frustration is that many more of our finest men and women will never come home to their loved ones because of the arrogance and insensitivity of this administration toward average Americans and the world. I pray that more and more Americans come to realize that this occupation has already failed in its intended purpose. It has caused too many casualties and could lead to an escalation of an Iraqi civil war. We need to bring in the assistance of the world community, and we need to do it immediately before Iraq becomes a Middle East Vietnam.

If Bush and his cabal had spent as much time, money and manpower in preparation for postwar Iraq as they have reportedly spent on the attempt to be reelected, many U.S. and Iraqi lives would have been spared and billions of taxpayer dollars would have been available for health, education, the environment, etc. But with Bush, first things (his reelection) come first.
