Nation’s Bird Flu Death Toll Rises to 14
Vietnamese health officials today confirmed two more cases of bird flu in people, including one man who died, bringing the country’s death toll to 14 and Asia’s overall toll to 19.
The latest death was that of a 27-year-old man from southern Binh Phuoc province, said Dr. Phan Van Tu at Ho Chi Minh City’s Pasteur Institute. The man died today at Ho Chi Minh City’s Hospital of Tropical Diseases.
Tests also found bird flu in a 23-year-old man from central Lam Dong province. The man was in stable condition at the same hospital, Tu said.
