California Fuel Prices Rise for Sixth Week

California motorists are paying nearly 7 cents a gallon more for gasoline on average than they were a week ago, a federal survey found.

The cost of self-serve regular gasoline in California rose for the sixth straight week, climbing 6.8 cents to $1.821 a gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration, an arm of the U.S. Energy Department. The statewide average has jumped 22.6 cents a gallon since the beginning of the year.

The national retail average increased 2.2 cents a gallon to $1.638 a gallon, the highest level since September, the EIA said.
