A website for some good, clean fun

Share

Who would have guessed that a website called dirtworld would be this tidy and open to the general mountain biking public? Never mind all the “double endo” and “crash ‘n burn” stories on its ranting message boards, there’s plenty of helpful and well-organized content here to steer off-road cyclists of all levels -- beginners, weekend warriors, extreme masochists -- in the right direction.

The site’s Bike Shop and Gear Review sections are, refreshingly, more info-oriented than sales-driven, providing concise reviews on all the helmets, frames and pedal sets most of us will ever need to know about. Directories for bike stores and clubs, races, tour operators and even bike-friendly lodgings provide some additional support.

A broad listing of reviewed mountain biking trails across the U.S. (plus Canada and Europe) is the site’s strongest suit, furnished with clear directions, solid descriptions and one final incentive -- a current five-day forecast.
