Those at Niguel Beach Terrace Can’t Profit by Playing Fair

Re “Coast Homes Battle Grows,” Dec. 1:

I bought my property at Niguel Beach Terrace 20 years ago and dutifully lived there alone, never rented, never did anything to take advantage of the discounted sales price offered me many years ago due to my financial status at that time.

Years pass, and last year, my father became deathly ill with a disease that required my 24-hour attention; he has since passed away. During this time, I had no income and was unable to cover my mortgage payments. A friend was willing to offer his excellent credit and loaned money to me to cover my impending financial implosion, using a line of credit on my property. His lender required only that his name be placed on the title. Now, I have been notified of a cease-and-desist order.

The Coastal Commission now prevents me from selling this property under the agreement I honored. I must wonder, if one were to have married during the 20 years and the title changed from a single man to a married man, would that be construed as a violation of the deed as well?
