Man Pleads Guilty to Computer Hacking
A 22-year-old California man pleaded guilty to hacking into New York Times Co.’s computer network and entering a database containing personal information about opinion-editorial page contributors.
Adrian Lamo, who turned himself in to federal authorities in Sacramento in September, pleaded guilty to one count of computer damage causing more than $5,000 in losses to the New York Times.
Under a plea deal reached with federal prosecutors, Lamo agreed to serve a prison term of six months to one year. A judge will determine his sentence April 8.
