The Defense Department last week identified the following American military personnel killed in Iraq:

Solomon C. Bangayan, 24, of Jay, Vt.; specialist, Army. Bangayan was killed Jan. 2 in Baghdad when his convoy was ambushed by attackers using an improvised explosive device, small-arms fire and a rocket-propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Dennis A. Corral, 33, of Kearney, Neb.; sergeant, Army. Corral was killed Jan. 1 while in a convoy to Baghdad International Airport when his vehicle went out of control and rolled over. He was assigned to the 1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Riley, Kan.

Craig Davis, 37, of Opelousas, La.; staff sergeant, Army. Davis was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to the 603rd Transportation Company, 142nd Corps Support Battalion at Ft. Polk, La.

Michael A. Diraimondo, 22, of Simi Valley; specialist, Army. Diraimondo was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Luke P. Frist, 20, of West Lafayette, Ind.; specialist, Army Reserve. Frist died Monday at Brooke Army Medical Center in Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, of wounds suffered when his convoy was struck by an improvised explosive device in Baghdad. He was assigned to the 209th Quartermaster Company, Army Reserve, based in Lafayette, Ind.

Christopher A. Golby, 26, of Johnstown, Pa.; specialist, Army. Golby was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Kimberly N. Hampton, 27, of Easley, S.C.; captain, Army. Hampton was the pilot of an OH-58 Kiowa Warrior reconnaissance helicopter that was shot down by enemy ground fire Jan. 2 in Fallouja. She died of her injuries. She was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 82nd Aviation Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Gregory B. Hicks, 35, of Duff, Tenn.; sergeant first class, Army. Hicks was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Nathaniel H. Johnson, 22, of Augusta, Ga.; specialist, Army. Johnson was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to Company D (Aviation), 82nd Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Philip A. Johnson Jr., 31, of Alabama; chief warrant officer, Army. Johnson was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Ian D. Manuel, 23, of Florida; chief warrant officer, Army. Manuel was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to the 571st Medical Company (Air Ambulance) at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Jesse D. Mizener, 24, of Auburn, Calif.; private first class, Army. Mizener was killed Wednesday when a mortar round hit a Baghdad-area logistics base. He was assigned to the 542nd Maintenance Company, 44th Corps Support Battalion, 593rd Corps Support Group at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Eric T. Paliwoda, 28, of Texas; captain, Army. Paliwoda was killed Jan. 2 when his command post in Balad came under mortar attack. He was assigned to the 4th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, Colo.

Marc S. Seiden, 26, of Brigantine, N.J.; specialist, Army. Seiden was killed Jan. 2 in Baghdad when his convoy was ambushed by attackers using an improvised explosive device, small arms fire and a rocket-propelled grenade. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Jeffrey C. Walker, 33, of Havre de Grace, Md.; sergeant, Army. Walker was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to Company C, 782nd Main Support Battalion, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Aaron A. Weaver, 32, of Florida; chief warrant officer, Army. Weaver was among nine soldiers killed Thursday when their UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter crashed near Fallouja. He was assigned to C Troop, 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Ft. Bragg, N.C.
