Governor’s Budget Shift Could Cost O.C. $62 Million in Revenue
Orange County could lose $62 million in property tax revenue if the governor succeeds in shifting $1.3 billion from local governments to education, officials told the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.
Tom Sacco, the county’s financial planning manager, stressed that the numbers are preliminary. “That’s an estimate based on the best methodology we have now. We don’t know how it’s going end up,” he said.
Among county agencies affected by the governor’s proposal, Sacco said, would be flood control and harbors, beaches and parks.
