U.S. Owes Farmers $26 Million, Judge Rules

A judge ruled Monday that the federal government owes growers in Kern, Tulare and Kings counties about $26 million for taking water from them to protect endangered fish.
The U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington found that the farmers lost money because of the federal decision.
The agencies that used the water -- the Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Marine Fisheries Service -- had no immediate comment.
