Monument Case Panel Gets State Court’s Nod
The state Supreme Court rejected former Chief Justice Roy Moore’s request to cancel the appointment of a seven-member replacement court to hear his appeal. The court did not explain its reasoning in the unanimous order. The replacement court was created because the justices decided last month that they should not hear Moore’s appeal.
The Court of the Judiciary removed Moore last year for violating ethics rules by not obeying a federal court order to remove his Ten Commandments monument from the Alabama Judicial Building.
