Group Launches Bid to Help Clear Land Mines

The Monterey chapter of the United Nations Assn. has begun a campaign to raise at least $50,000 to help clean up land mines in Afghanistan.
“It’s a very exciting program, a way in which we can reach across the world,” said chapter President Larry Levine.
Afghanistan is one of the most heavily mined countries in the world.
