Government, Give Us Our Money’s Worth

Re “Drip, Drip, Drip and Soon You’re In Over Your Head,” Commentary, Jan. 18:

John Moorlach’s commentary on the bad decisions made by Orange County officials presents a valuable lesson for all government officials. Making a fiscal decision without knowing the worst-case impact is inexcusable.

All government officials -- state, county, city and public agency -- should treat the money they spend as if it were their own.

All government entities should have and enforce policies and practices that ensure fiscal restraint is exercised at every level.
