Indiana a Bad Example on Local Phone Rates

If California follows Indiana’s lead and increases wholesale rates for local phone service, we’ll probably see less competition, and it could force competing phone carriers out of the California market altogether (“Is Calif. Next After Ind. Phone Rate Hike?” Jan. 15).

Keep local phone service affordable for Californians -- the Public Utilities Commission should not raise wholesale rates.

It’s a dangerous message to send to California’s existing businesses as well as those considering opening up shop in the Golden State.
