Re “ ’67 Escapee Arrested in Texas,” Jan. 16: According to Terry Thornton of the California Department of Corrections, Donald Johnson, on the lam for 26 years, “still owes California more time.” In these lean times? Come on!

Figure out the cost of housing him, feeding him and supervising him -- also calculate his rehabilitation, which he did himself -- for the remainder of his prison time and send him a check for half the total so he can pay off his new motor home.
