Hard-Line Council Vetoes Election Bill

Iran’s hard-line Guardian Council rejected a bill aimed at reversing its decision to ban reformist candidates from running for parliament.
Parliament passed the reform proposal in an act of defiance aimed at the Guardian Council, which barred more than a third of the 8,200 aspirants from running in the Feb. 20 election.
