More Women Apply To Air Force Academy
A record number of women have applied to attend the Air Force Academy despite a year of turmoil because of a sexual-assault scandal.
The academy has received 2,962 applications from women -- 34 percent more than the 2,212 received a year ago and the most since the academy began accepting women in 1976.
The 11,838 applications are a 14% increase over last year.A year ago, dozens of former and current female cadets alleged the academy ignored their sex-assault reports and in some cases punished them for coming forward.
