Lawsuit Seeks to Get Prop. 60 Off Ballot

From Times Wire Reports

Advocates of ending party primaries have sued to knock off the Nov. 2 ballot a rival measure that the Legislature created to protect the current system.

The ballot question, Proposition 60, would guarantee that winners of party primaries participate in general elections. The lawsuit filed Tuesday says the measure unconstitutionally includes an unrelated question about state surplus property.

If passed, Proposition 60 could nullify Proposition 62, which would create one primary open to all candidates. The top two would face off in the general election.
