Death in Combat

Re “‘Sorry Won’t Bring My Husband Back,’” July 5: In all of my 64 years, I have never read a story that was so touching and full of emotion, and straight from the heart. Yes, Elena Zurheide, “sorry” will not bring back your husband, nor will your son grow up to see his dad. I wonder how many politicians who voted to send your husband into this hellhole called Iraq will take the time to visit you and express their condolences rather than send you another form letter.

As a disabled veteran, all I can say is, “Thank you,” Elena Zurheide, for sharing your story with all of us. I will not forget your story or your husband.
