* U.S. wholesale inventories rose 1.2% in May, more than forecast and their ninth straight gain, as companies kept more goods in stock to keep up with orders.

* Auto parts maker Dana Corp. said it was selling its replacement-parts unit for $1.1 billion in cash to Cypress Group, including 52 plants worldwide that employ about 13,000 people making brakes, filters and other parts.

* AT&T; Corp. won a 37% reduction of a government fine to end a probe into whether it made sales calls to people who had asked not to be contacted by telemarketers. The company agreed to pay $490,000.
