Dell Inc. raised its profit outlook, reflecting stronger overseas sales and a declining tax rate.
The Round Rock, Texas-based maker of computers said it expected earnings of 31 cents a share for the fiscal second quarter ending July 30, 2 cents above both its previous forecast and its year-earlier profit.
Analysts had been expecting a profit of about 29 cents. Dell maintained its outlook for second-quarter revenue of $11.7 billion. Analysts had forecast revenue of $11.65 billion to $11.8 billion.
