Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss has put his Sherman Oaks home on the market at just under $2.5 million.

Dreyfuss, who has been starring in the Broadway revival of “Sly Fox” and soon heads off to London for his November opening as Bialystock in the West End production of “The Producers,” has owned the Sherman Oaks home for 10 years but hasn’t lived there recently. For the last few years, caretakers and tenants have occupied the house. Dreyfuss makes his home on the Westside with his wife, Janelle, whom he married in 1999.

The Sherman Oaks home has five bedrooms and 3 1/2 bathrooms in slightly more than 3,700 square feet, behind gates. Three of the bedrooms are in a separate wing.

The traditional-style house, built in 1940, also has terraced gardens, a veranda, decks and a pool. There is a country kitchen with tile floors and granite counters.

Actor Harrison Ford, known for his carpentry skills before he became a star, built a separate building now being used as a gym. Actress Talia Shire and her family were previous owners.

Richard Dreyfuss, who won a best actor Oscar at age 29 for his performance in “The Goodbye Girl” (1977), also earned an Academy Award nomination for his work in “Mr. Holland’s Opus” (1995). The actor and his writer-producer brother, Lorin, and sister Cathy, a criminal defense attorney, are part of a team of investors developing Opus in Rancho Mirage, a 14-home project on 20 acres. The same group also invested in remodeling a Palm Springs house that sold for about $1.4 million.

Janelle Dreyfuss and business partner Tabitha Kenney opened the L.A. Food Works culinary learning center and restaurant in West Hollywood in June.

Dee Nep of Coldwell Banker, Sherman Oaks, has the listing on the Sherman Oaks home.

Actor gives up hillside hacienda

Steven Weber, who starred earlier this year in ABC’s limited-run drama “The D.A.,” and his designer wife, Juliette Hohnen, have sold their Hollywood Hills home at slightly less than its asking price of about $4 million.

The Hollywood Hills house is a walled and gated hacienda with six bedrooms, 6 1/2 bathrooms and a detached guest-gym-maid’s quarters. There are four fireplaces in the home, which has city views and a flat, grassy yard with a pool and a spa. The house, built in 1933, has been enlarged, updated and restored.

Weber, 43, who had his breakthrough role in the NBC sitcom “Wings” (1990-97), costars in the upcoming Showtime movie “Reefer Madness.” He will also star, with Campbell Scott, in the Noel Coward play “Design for Living” July 28 to Aug. 8 at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Williamstown, Mass.
