Pro-Putin Leader Killed in Chechnya
From Times Wire Reports
A local pro-Russian leader was fatally shot in Chechnya, and the region’s prosecutor called it a contract killing linked to August’s presidential election.
Tamara Khadzhiyeva of United Russia, which supports President Vladimir V. Putin, was killed at her home in Shali, southeast of the Chechen capital, Grozny, an official said.
The Aug. 29 election was prompted by the assassination of pro-Moscow Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov in May.
