Applications for New Mortgages Decrease

New applications for U.S. mortgages fell last week for the second week in a row even though mortgage rates for most loans were flat to lower, an industry group said.
The Mortgage Bankers Assn. said its seasonally adjusted market index, a measure of mortgage activity, fell for the week ended Friday by 4% to 617.9 from the previous week’s 643.9.
