Weight Debate

Share

The July 23 article “Worth Its Weight in Debate” quotes Paul Campos, who is stuffing himself with a high-fat meal and admits to being overweight per the government guidelines. He dismisses this as junk science. I know several people who are grossly overweight, including two men who are taller than six feet but weigh more than 350 pounds each; and a woman who tips the scales at nearly 400 pounds and is only about 5 feet, 6 inches tall.

I know what these people go through on a daily basis, and it offends me to read of a man who has not apparently experienced severe obesity. When he has had an opportunity to walk in the shoes of very overweight people, let’s see if he calls it junk science.
