Other Deaths

The Defense Department last week also identified the following American military personnel killed in Afghanistan and Iraq:

Todd J. Bolding, 23, of Manvel, Texas; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Bolding was killed Thursday in hostile action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Cody S. Calavan, 19, of Lake Stevens, Wash.; private first class, Marine Corps. Calavan was killed May 29 in hostile action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Bradli N. Coleman, 19, of Ford City, Pa.; private, Army. Coleman died May 30 in Baghdad of injuries suffered May 29 when mortar rounds struck his living quarters in Mosul, Iraq. He was assigned to the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Daniel W. Eggers, 28, of Cape Coral, Fla.; captain, Army. Eggers was killed May 29 when his vehicle struck a land mine in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Aaron C. Elandt, 23, of Lowell, Mich.; sergeant, Army. Elandt was killed May 30 when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Musayyib, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Baumholder, Germany.

Benjamin R. Gonzalez, 23, of Los Angeles; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Gonzalez was killed May 29 in hostile action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Joseph A. Jeffries, 21, of Beaverton, Ore.; private first class, Army Reserve. Jeffries was killed May 29 when his vehicle struck a land mine in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 329th Psychological Operations Company, Army Reserve in Portland, Ore.

Markus J. Johnson, 20, of Springfield, Mass.; private first class, Army. Johnson was killed Tuesday when his Avenger air defense vehicle -- a Humvee equipped with a missile launcher -- rolled over in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to D Battery, 4th Battalion, 3rd Air Defense Artillery, 1st Infantry Division in Kitzingen, Germany.

Robert J. Mogensen, 26, of Leesville, La.; staff sergeant, Army. Mogensen was killed May 29 when his vehicle struck a land mine in Kandahar, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) Ft. Bragg, N.C.

Dominique J. Nicolas, 25, of Maricopa, Ariz.; corporal, Marine Corps. Nicolas was killed May 26 in hostile action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Charles E. Odums II, 22, of Sandusky, Ohio; specialist, Army. Odums was killed May 30 when his military convoy struck an improvised explosive device in Baghdad. He was assigned to Headquarters, Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division at Ft. Hood, Texas.

Brian J. Ouellette, 37, of Needham, Mass.; petty officer first class, Navy. Ouellette was killed May 29 when the Humvee he was in ran over a mine in southern Afghanistan. He was a Navy SEAL assigned to Navy Special Warfare Group 2 in Little Creek, Va.

Robert C. Scheetz Jr., 31, of Dothan, Ala.; captain, Army. Scheetz was killed May 30 when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device in Musayyib, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 6th Infantry Regiment in Baumholder, Germany.

Dustin L. Sides, 22, of Yakima, Wash.; lance corporal, Marine Corps. Sides was killed Monday in hostile action in Iraq’s Al Anbar province. He was assigned to the 9th Communications Battalion, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Pendleton.

Michael J. Wiesemann, 20, of North Judson, Ind.; specialist, Army. Wiesemann died of noncombat-related injuries May 29 at Quyarrah Air Base, Iraq. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 14th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division at Ft. Lewis, Wash.

Nicholaus E. Zimmer, 20, of Columbus, Ohio; private first class, Army. Zimmer was killed May 30 when his vehicle came under attack by rocket-propelled grenades in Kufa, Iraq. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 37th Armored Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Friedberg, Germany.
