Army, Militias Executed Civilians, U.N. Declares

A senior U.N. official said she had “credible information” that Sudanese forces and government-backed militias had carried out summary executions of civilians in western Sudan.
Asma Jahangir, the U.N. special rapporteur on executions, also said after visiting the Darfur region that members of the militias, which locals accuse of looting and killing villagers, were being integrated into the army.
