City Security Service Helps Reduce Crime

Share

One of the great incongruities about Los Angeles living is how, with one of the most comfortable and compatible year-round climates of any urban center in America, no one actually moves by foot in the city. Therefore, it was a surprise to see private security guards serving downtown areas on foot and by bicycle (“Flak Over Downtown Security Guards,” June 8). Obviously, as proved by reduced crime statistics, the private security guards are fulfilling a needed security service for merchants and workers in the downtown L.A. area.

And equally obvious to anyone who has frequented Los Angeles, one just does not see L.A. police officers patrolling outside of their patrol cars. One would think, therefore, rather than raising “flak,” the downtown community would be glad that private security firms are able to recruit local citizens to perform a needed security service for Los Angeles.
