15 Guilty of Plot Against U.S. and Israeli Interests
From Times Wire Reports
Military judges convicted 15 men -- 14 of them fugitives -- in a terrorism conspiracy targeting American and Israeli interests in Jordan. When the verdict was read, Ahmad Mahmoud Saleh Riyati, alleged mastermind of a cell linked to Al Qaeda, yelled: “All these charges were false!”
Riyati initially was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor, but the presiding judge, Col. Fawaz Buqour, reduced it to 7 1/2 years.
