A lawyer for Timothy Rigas, Adelphia Communications Corp.’s former finance chief, told jurors that prosecutors relied on lying witnesses and “grossly oversimplified” evidence at Rigas’ fraud trial. Attorney Paul Grand, in closing arguments, said Rigas, who is on trial with his father and brother, was falsely accused of deceiving investors about finances at Adelphia, the No. 5 U.S. cable television operator.
