Ex-Sen. Danforth OKd as U.N. Ambassador

The Senate confirmed John C. Danforth, a former senator from Missouri who has served as the Bush administration’s peace envoy to war-torn Sudan, as ambassador to the United Nations.
President Bush earlier this month tapped Danforth, 68, a Republican, to replace John Negroponte, who is moving from the U.N. to Iraq to run what will be the largest U.S. embassy.
