ESPN in Accord With Cable TV Cooperative

From Bloomberg News

Walt Disney Co.’s ESPN, the most-watched cable sports network, and the National Cable Television Cooperative, a group of more than 1,200 small cable operators, have signed long-term distribution agreements.

The Lenexa, Kan.-based cooperative represents independent cable operators in every U.S. state, serving more than 15 million subscribers. Financial terms of the agreements weren’t disclosed.

“This is yet another agreement that supports ESPN’s strategy to offer moderating rate adjustments in exchange for long-term commitments,” ESPN and ABC Sports President George Bodenheimer said.
