* Tenet Healthcare Corp. said Richard R. Pettingill, president and chief executive of Minneapolis-based Allina Hospitals & Clinics, had been elected to the company’s board.

* Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., a buyout firm, agreed to pay $1.5 billion for Sealy Corp., the fourth time in 15 years that the largest U.S. mattress maker has changed hands.

* PepsiCo Inc. nudged its share of U.S. soft-drink sales last year to the highest level since 1992 by taking sales from No. 1 Coca-Cola Co. with new drinks, including lemon-lime Sierra Mist. Purchase, N.Y.-based PepsiCo’s share climbed 0.4 percentage point to 31.8% of the $63.8-billion market, according to a study by Beverage Digest, an industry newsletter. Atlanta-based Coca-Cola slipped 0.3 percentage point to 44% after gaining in 2002 for the first time in four years.
