Sniper Convict’s Lawyers Ask for Lesser Sentence

John Allen Muhammad’s lawyers urged a judge to spare the convicted sniper mastermind from the death penalty, saying it would be wrong to leave his children fatherless.
The defense said it would be “simply cruel to inflict additional pain on additional innocent children” by executing Muhammad.
The 43-year-old father of three is to be sentenced Tuesday.
