Dismal at Disney

Re “Dissidents Were Heard, to a Point,” March 4: After a record-breaking 43% vote of no confidence by the Walt Disney Co.’s shareholders at the annual meeting in Philadelphia, the board of directors continues to flout shareholder interests by permitting Michael Eisner to remain in power as the company’s CEO. Giving the company’s chairmanship to former U.S. Sen. George Mitchell, Eisner’s lap dog, is a fig leaf covering Eisner’s continuing control of the company and is an affront to reasonable people.

As it used to be said of the Pennsylvania Railroad, a Philadelphia housewife could do a better job of running Disney.
