Amgen CEO Got 31% More in Pay Last Year

Amgen Inc. Chief Executive Kevin Sharer received a 31% increase in total pay to $4.32 million in 2003 as shares of the world’s biggest biotechnology company climbed 28%.
Sharer, 56, received $1.1 million in salary, a bonus of $2.48 million and $748,398 in other compensation, including personal use of a company airplane, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing.
Sharer also received stock options that could be worth $28.1 million after seven years, assuming the stock’s price rises 10% annually.
Shares of Thousand Oaks-based Amgen fell 84 cents to $60.20 on Nasdaq.
