Prosecution Suggests Fastow Is Cooperating

Former Enron Corp. Chief Financial Officer Andrew S. Fastow’s cooperation is “likely to bear additional fruit,” prosecutors wrote in a filing that urges the judge sentencing his wife to stick to a five-month prison deal.

Enron Task Force Director Andrew Weissmann and prosecutor Linda Lacewell argued that Lea Fastow, a former Enron assistant treasurer, deserves the five-month term because she played a key role in getting her husband to plead guilty and cooperate with the Justice Department.

They credit his assistance in bringing indictments against former Chief Executive Jeffery K. Skilling and former Chief Accounting Officer Richard A. Causey. Both men have pleaded not guilty.
