* Newark, Calif.-based retailer Ross Stores Inc. said fourth-quarter net income was $73.7 million, or 48 cents a share, compared with $58.7 million, or 37 cents, a year earlier.

Sales increased 14% to $1.1 billion, while same-store sales, a key indicator of retail health, increased 4%.
