Supreme Court Ruling Stops Recall Again

A branch of Venezuela’s politically split Supreme Court overturned a decision favoring a recall vote against President Hugo Chavez. The Constitutional Chamber declared void a ruling by the Electoral Chamber that said the leftist leader’s foes had obtained more than the 2.4 million signatures needed to trigger the poll.
The National Electoral Council still could seek reconfirmation of more than 800,000 disputed signatures to decide whether a referendum would go ahead.
