Carry-Over Hits $855,542

Share

The parade of longshots continued at Churchill Downs on Wednesday, meaning there is a pick six carry-over of $855,542 for today.

Only two of the six winners in the sequence paid less than $10. The biggest surprise was Marnie’s Heirloom, who won the 10th and final race at 66-1 under apprentice jockey James Graham.

Half of the races in today’s pick six are on the turf, including two maiden affairs at 1 1/8 miles and a $56,700 optional claimer for fillies and mares at 1 3/8 miles.

Only six are scheduled to run in the optional claimer and the only member of the field with a win over the Churchill Downs grass is No Other Like You. Trained by Neil Pessin, the 4-year-old Cozzene filly broke her maiden at nearly 9-1 on May 24, 2003.

The other three pick-six contests are a $10,000 claimer at seven furlongs, a $20,000 claimer at 6 1/2 furlongs for older fillies and mares and $30,000 maiden claimer at six furlongs for fillies and mares.

Race of the day: Personal Legend, who has been running in graded stakes of late for trainer Bobby Frankel, will try for her third career victory in today’s seventh, a $54,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Hollywood Park. Alex Solis will ride the 4-year-old filly. Chasethegold, who won her last two turf races for trainer Gary Mandella, Icy Avenue, Letra De Cambio, Icy Avenue and Honeypenny complete the cast.

One for the road: Pa Pa Da ran poorly on the main track at Aqueduct on April 25 but could rebound with a switch to turf today in Belmont Park’s seventh, a $44,000 allowance at 1 1/16 miles. The son of Incurable Optimist broke his maiden over the Belmont grass Sept. 18. John Velazquez will ride for trainer David Donk. The race is part of a pick six with a carry-over of more than $35,000.

Exotically speaking: A Hollywood Park pick three using Chosen Honor, Carla Rose and Adventure Cat in the fourth, Grey Misty in the fifth and Kouri Jill, Hagerstown and Onry Wonway in the sixth.

Winners: Previous day/meet total: 2/27. Money: Previous day/meet total: $11.60/$152.80. Total money bet: $190.
