No need for ‘20/20’ to apologize

Re “Walters Apologizes for ‘20/20’ Promotions” (April 29): I can’t stand it. The true meaning of the word “reality” has been misappropriated and corrupted by the creators of the schlocky programs that call themselves “reality” shows.

Adoption, and the choices that parents make, are, in fact, reality and “20/20” did nothing wrong using that word to describe its program about a young birth mother’s selection of potential parents for her child.

When we can no longer use words like “reality” in their true sense

I guess Orwell was prescient.
